For the month of April, the scaffolding of one of the buildings under renovation of the famous pedestrian street will in fact be covered by a giant 2D and 3D art installation in Alcantara® which, as if by magic, will reproduce the facade of a real hotel. Not only: every day, as the sun goes down, thanks to a series of video mapping animations, the Alcantara® MAGIC HOTEL will come to life, showing what happens inside the hotel.

Showcooking at Banner

Banner presents Offmat for the Salone del Mobile 2016, the research laboratory in which technical experimentation and advanced functions blend with pure matter. A project between technology and craftsmanship, created by Marmo Arredo under the creative direction of Tipic Studio.

On this occasion the boutique windows will host "Comet K1204", a site specific installation designed by Tommaso Corà and Paolo Festa, which interprets the new materials that the creative duo has developed for Offmat: synthetic industrial stones designed like artisanal textiles.

Inside we find Tùler, a sculpture/kitchen in which the technological solutions integrate with materials, that on the evening of Tuesday April 12th will be the protagonist of a showcooking event between fashion, design and innovation.

Beacon Helsinki, a network of Finnish designers, presents at Milan Design Week 2016 an exhibition showing the most inter- esting Finnish designers together with Finnish food by wild food chef Sami Tallberg and world-class gin by Kyro Distillery.

Failures - Process Beyond Success. A project by Raumplan and ACCC

FAILURES. MAIN EXHIBITION
The main exhibition displays a wide range of unique pieces that never made it out to the factory: prototypes by Aldo Rossi, Alessandro Mendini, Ettore Sottsass, Marco Zanuso, Anna Castelli and Richard Sapper, owned by museum institutions of brands such as Alessi and Kartell. Moreover, you will find research products by renowned contemporary designers as Riccardo Blumer and Francesco Faccin.

TRIALS. COLLECTIVE EXHIBITION
Next to the main exhibition, in the room called Capriate, a selection of young European designers displays a heterogeneous range of products, prototypes and auto productions, showing their processes and the stages of their research.

This third edition of the exhibition explores the theme TRADITION & TECHNOLOGY.

The courtyard of the Palazzo, the heart of the event, is being interpreted this year by Diébédo Francis Kéré. Born in Burkina Faso, the Berlin-based architect is transforming the courtyard into a neo-African village called Courtyard Village.

On the first floor of the Palazzo, in the Mirror Room poetic engineer and designer Alberto Meda takes over the floor. Michele De Lucchi and Andrea Branzi with Francesca Balena Arista investigate the theme of ‘CAOS’. The 7th edition of Belgium is Design presents projects commissioned especially for the event and will be seen for the first time during the Salone.
Continuing the tradition, DAMN° and MoscaPartners are presenting some fresh entries, including works by young international talents

This international ‘Design Route’ will take you through Isola into Brera. “50 MANGA CHAIRS”
An installation of Nendo’s new work for Friedman Benda Gallery, New York
This installation of 50 manga chairs is the result of adapting the strong symbolic nature of manga comics to furniture design. Manga consist of a series of frames on a single sheet of paper that creates a sequence. Similarly, 50 standard chairs are lined up in a grid, each one conjures up a sense of story, and each with a design element from manga.

The SaloneSatellite has always looked to the future, and will do so again this year, with the theme "New Materials, New Design", exploring the latest that the new materials science has to offer.

As always, a Selection Committee composed of international figures from the worlds of design, manufacturing and communication, chaired by Marva Griffin, curator and founder of SaloneSatellite, will evaluate thousands of projects and select approximately 700 for exhibition at this 19th edition. Alongside the selected participants will be several international design schools.

Wallpaper* is back in the arcade in more than 2.000 sqm under the theme of the hotel. Slamp, Emeco, Rockwell Group, Stellar Works, Gaia&Gino, Nude Glass, Kalmar and Bolon.
Leclettico – founder of the district- will be presenting an introspective exhibition, creating an itinerary through its multiple personalities.

Other exhibitors include Samer Alameen, a Lebanese designer in Milan who will be presenting his latest collection, Pattern Interrupted; and Pinch, London based design studio which will present its new pieces alongside a special installation featuring some of the brand’s signature pieces.
Special guest Lee Broom’s van will stop by San Gregorio for the opening on the 12th, for a peek into their surreal road show.

Sarpi Bridge_Oriental Design Week promotes in Opificio 31 of Tortona design district the exhibition OO!CHINA.

In OO!CHINA the "bridge" is not only between East and West but also between art and design, because the exhibitors have created using both the artistic thought that the expressive power of design, focusing on the research of materials and trying to combine aesthetics and functionality.

The curator is Sun Chenzhu, the project director is Fan Yiping and in exhibition there are Hu Jian, Li Hanyuan, Liu Tao, Liu Yi, Liu Yichun, Tan Zhipeng, Wu Hao, Xiao Aibin, Zhang Muchen, Zheng Shiliang, Zhang Zhaoying.

BEYOND - The Veuve Clicquot Journey by Fabrica

Veuve Clicquot has chosen the unconventional creativity of Fabrica to celebrate during Milano Design Week the 200th anniversary of its first design invention, which revolutionised the méthode champenoise: the table de remuage – forerunner of today’s riddling table – where the bottles are tilted and turned to obtain a clear, pure wine.

With BEYOND visitors will be drawn into an exploration of real and imaginary landscapes, in an exclusive setting that epitomises the concept of the journey, which will open its doors to the public for one day only on April 14th: The Royal Pavilion of Milan Central Station.
